Intercultural Video Exchange Project - Judith Geare

  • University of Auckland Epsom Campus 74 Epsom Ave Auckland, Auckland, 1023 New Zealand (map)

In 2013 & 2014 Takapuna Grammar School German students took part in an exchange project with students of German in Senegal, Mexico and Germany. The project started with an intensive week of work with two sociologists/film makers. The New Zealand students learned the basics of film making and produced two short films. These films were viewed by the groups in Senegal and Mexico who sent feed-back and questions and also their own films to be viewed and commented on. The project stretched over more than a year.

Judith Geare is head of the language programme at the Goethe-Institut Neuseeland. With help from some of the participants, she will present the project and show excerpts from the two films the students made and from the final film, which includes each group viewing and commenting on the films made in other countries.

The lecture will be in Te Puna Wananga, University of Auckland Epsom Campus. (It's easy to find if you park at Gates 2 or 3!)
